The group's principal activity is to provide health care services through hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers. It owns and operates in small cities and selected urban markets primarily in the southern, midwestern and western United States. The services include medicine, general surgery, cardiology, oncology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, obstetrics, diagnostic and emergency services. These hospitals also provide outpatient and ancillary health care services such as outpatient surgery, laboratory, radiology, respiratory therapy, cardiology and physical therapy. The group's hospital facilities include 56 general acute care hospitals and 16 ambulatory surgery centers. In 2003, the group discontinued operations of two hospitals.
