The company's principal activities are the design, development and marketing of DSL chips used by manufacturers of telecommunications equipment. The products enable the digital transmission of voice, video and data over standard telephone lines at speeds that are up to 30 times faster than transmission rates provided by conventional analog modems. As a result of the agreement the company entered into in Feb 2002 with stmicroelectronics, it is currently active in provision of research and development services to stmicroelectronics in the company's traditional field of business. The agreement will expire on Apr 15, 2003, when stmicroelectronics is to decide whether or not it will exercise its option to acquire the company. If not the company may be forced to try to sell its business at a low price or cease operating altogether.
