The group's principal activity is to supply electronic design automation (eda) software to the global electronics industry. The products are used by designers of integrated circuits (ics), including system-on-a-chip ics and the electronic products that use such ics to automate significant portions of their chip design process. The group operates in a single segment and is organized into four primary groups which include implementation, verification, solutions and new ventures. It offers a full range of professional services to help customers, improve their internal design methodologies and design services ranging from specialized assistance to turnkey design. In 2003, the group acquired numerical technologies inc, innologic systems and certain assets of qualis inc and accelerant networks inc, certain test related assets of iroc technologies s a and technology assets of analog design automation inc in feb 2004.
