The group's principal activities are exploring, acquiring, producing and marketing crude oil and natural gas. The company operates in three segments: oil sands, natural gas and sunoco. The oil sands segment produces and markets light sweet and light sour crude oil, diesel fuel and various and custom blends. The natural gas segment explores, acquires, develops, produces transports and markets natural gas and crude oil. The sunoco segment refines crude oil and transports and markets finished petroleum and petrochemical products. The group owns mines in the athabasca region of alberta, natural gas facilities in calgary and refining facilities near toronto. Outside Canada, the products are sold in the United States and Europe. Petroleum and petrochemical products accounted for 65% of 2001 revenues; crude oil, 31% and natural gas, 4%.
