Southwestern public service company generates, transmits, distributes and markets electric energy. The company has two wholly-owned subsidiaries; utility engineering corporation, whose operations include engineering design and construction management, and quixx corporation which has invested in a waste-to-energy cogeneration facility in North Carolina, holding certain nonutility assets and pursuing nonutility projects. Electric service is provided through an interconnected system to a population of about one million in a 52,000 square-mile area of the panhandle and south plains of Texas, eastern and southeastern New Mexico, the Oklahoma panhandle and southwestern Kansas.
