The group's principal activity is to reinsure life insurance, annuities and annuity-type products. The activities of the group are carried out through three segments: life reinsurance, wealth management and other. The life reinsurance segment underwrites life insurance, annuities and annuity-type products through life insurance companies and other financial institutions located in the United States as well as worldwide. The wealth management division writes variable life insurance and variable annuity products for high net worth individuals and families. The other division comprises of revenues and expenses not related to life reinsurance or wealth management segments. The group has operations in Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, Ireland, the United Kingdom and the United States. During 2003, the group discontinued its wealth management division in Luxembourg. On 22-Dec-2003, the group acquired ERC Life Reinsurance Corporation.
