Business Information
The group's principal activity is to provide global oilfield and information services. It operates through three business segments. The schlumberger oilfield services segment supplies products, services and technical solutions to the oil and gas exploration and production industry. The westerngeco segment provides comprehensive worldwide reservoir imaging, monitoring, development services and multiclient seismic library. Westerngeco is 70% owned by schlumberger and 30% owned by baker hughes. The other segment comprises the axalto (cards and point-of-sale terminals), electricity meters, business continuity, infodata, telecom software products, water services, essentis and payphones activities. The group operates in over 100 countries in North America, Latin America, Europe, west Africa, cis, Middle East and Asia. In 2004, the group discontinued its schlumberger sema business, infodata business and telecom billing software business.
