The group's principal activity is to manufacture complex metal components and products. The group operates in five business segments: investment cast products segment manufactures investment castings for aircraft engines, igt engines, airframes and medical prostheses. Forged products segment manufactures fan discs, compressor discs, turbine discs, seals, spacers, shafts, hubs and cases. Fluid management products segment designs, manufactures, and markets fluid-handling industrial valves and pumps. Fastener products segment includes developing and manufacturing of highly engineered fasteners, fastener systems and precision components. Industrial products include refiner plates, screen cylinders, metal-injection-molded, metal-matrix-composite and thixoformedtm components. The group sold the newmans business within the fluid management products segment in the third quarter of fiscal 2004. On 9-Dec-2003, the group acquired sps technologies inc.
