The group's principal activity is to develop, manufacture and market fiber optic sensors and instruments. The group's product is capnoprobe which is a handheld device that is slipped under the tongue like a thermometer that measurers the tissue of the mucous membrane in the mouth. The capnoprobe sensor system includes a disposable sensor and a bench top instrument. The optochemically based sensors and its optical platform and software systems can be incorporated into a variety of low-cost, fluid, blood and tissue-contacting measurement systems. These products are used to monitor blood gas for medically unstable patients in critical and intensive care units. The trademarks of the group are capnoprobe(tm) and optical cam(tm).
