The group's principal activities are to design, manufacture and market fiber optic components and integrated optical modules that increase the performance of optical networks. The group produces fiber optic subsystems, integrated modules and components for next-generation, all-optical dense wavelength division multiplexing (dwdm), optical amplification, routing, monitoring and conditioning applications. The products are categorized into two groups: bandwidth creation products which includes wavelength expansion and optical amplification products. The bandwidth management products includes wavelength performance monitoring, protection and optical switching products. The group has manufacturing operations in san jose, California, zhuhai and fuzhou in China. On 3-Nov-2003 the group acquired redclover networks, inc and on 09-Mar-2004, the group acquired accumux technologies, inc.
