The group's principal activities are to manufacture and distribute fuel additives and other specialty chemicals. The group operates in two segments : tel (tetraethyl lead) and specialty chemicals. Tel is used for the internal combustion engines to boost octane levels in gasoline and it also acts as a lubricity aid, reducing engine wear. Specialty chemicals comprises of petroleum specialties and performance chemicals. The petroleum specialties business develops, produces and markets a range of specialty products, used as fuel additives, derived from the tel operations. Performance chemicals business develops products for detergent market, personal care, paper and photographics. The manufacturing operations of the group are located at ellesmere port, south wirral, United Kingdom. The products are sold globally and are basically to oil refineries. The group acquired leuna polymer gmbh in 2004. On 26-Aug-2004, the group acquired aroma & fine chemicals ltd.
