The group's principal activities are electricity generation and distribution, fuel procurement and marketing of energy and energy-linked commodities. The group operates in two segments: North America segment and international segment. The north American segment owns and operates electricity generation assets, energy trading and marketing activities. The commodity trading and marketing operations trade energy and energy-linked commodities consisting primarily of electricity, gas, coal and oil. The international segment includes power generation businesses in the Philippines, curacao and trinidad and integrated utilities in the bahamas and jamaica. The group has facilities located in North America, the Caribbean, Europe and Asia. During 2003, it discontinued the operations of the neenah generating facility in Wisconsin, the tanguisson power plant in guam and investments held by mirant Americas energy capital and mirant Canada energy capital.
