The group's principal activities are magazine publishing and television broadcasting. The group operates in two segments namely, publishing and broadcasting. The publishing segment includes magazine and book publishing, integrated marketing, interactive media, database-related activities, brand licensing and other related operations. The segment includes 17 magazine brands, approximately 160 special interest publications and 300 books in print. The magazine brands include better homes and gardens, ladies' home journal, country home, traditional home and successful farming. The broadcasting segment includes the operations of 11 network-affiliated television stations. The stations include wgcl-TV, kpho-TV, kptv, kpdx-TV, wfsb-TV, wsmv-TV, kctv and kfxo-TV. In fiscal 2003, the group acquired American baby magazine and related assets from primedia inc. The group's largest source of revenue is magazine and television advertising.
