The group's principal activity is to transmit and distribute electricity. It supplies electricity to retail and wholesale customers in northern Maine. The group continues to provide transmission services to former wholesale energy customers and transmission and distribution services to retail customers in the service territory. The service area features agricultural and wood product customers. Potato growing and processing, as well as the manufacturing of wood products, principally lumber, continues to be the dominant economic forces in the service area. The major customers of the group are commercial users, lumber and wood-chip producers. On 01-Dec-2003, the group acquired eastcan consultants, inc and on 01-Jun-2004, the group acquired morris & richard consulting engineers limited. On 17-Jun-2004, the group acquired res engineering, inc.
