The group's principal activities are to provide administrative and underwriting services to insurance exchanges. It has two operating segments: management operations and property insurance. In the management operation segment, the group performs the role of attorney-in-fact for the policyholders of the erie insurance exchange. Erie insurance exchange is a Pennsylvania-domiciled reciprocal insurance exchange. In the property insurance segment, the group provides property and casualty insurance services. This segment provides insurance in the personal and commercial lines, which is sold by independent agents. Personal lines are marketed to individuals and commercial lines to small and medium-sized businesses. These services are provided in Pennsylvania, Ohio, west Virginia, Maryland and Virginia.
