The group's principal activities are the research and development of technology used to manufacture fuel cells and batteries. A fuel cell is a device that combines hydrogen and oxygen to generate electricity through an electrochemical reaction. The group has proprietary interests in technology relating to direct methanol fuel cells (dmfc's) and lithium ion, nickel zinc and zinc carbon (bromine complex) rechargeable batteries. Currently, the group is focusing its efforts primarily in two areas: the development of its proprietary dmfc's and the commercialization of its nickel zinc technology. In oct-2003, the group acquired 49.6% shareholding in pure energy inc.
