The group's principal activity is to provide general hospital healthcare services to non-urban markets in the United States. It provides a broad range of inpatient medical and surgical services, outpatient treatment and skilled nursing care. These services include internal medicine, general surgery, cardiology, oncology, orthopedics, ob/gyn, diagnostic and emergency room services, outpatient surgery, laboratory, radiology, respiratory therapy, physical therapy and rehabilitation services. As of 31-Mar-2004, the group owned, leased or operated 72 hospitals in 22 states. During the year 2003, the group acquired seven hospitals from methodist healthcare corporation, pottstown memorial medical center, southside regional medical center, laredo medical center and phoenixville hospital on 01-Aug-2004.
