The group's principal activity is to provide research and development support services on a contract basis to the biotechnology industry. The group's customers consist of private companies, academic institutions and government agencies, who uses biological processes to develop products for health care, agricultural and other purposes. The group provides macromolecular synthetic and analytical services to researches in the biotechnology industry. The group serves two types of customers namely short-term projects, where discrete set of analysis is done and long term projects in which the group enters into contract with the client for research and development.the group is accredited under the guidelines of the national forensic science technology center, (nfstc), to perform dna identity testing for submission of data into the combined dna index system (codis).
