It acts as a holding company for century bank and trust company, a state chartered financial institution. Through the bank, the group accepts savings, time and demand deposits and provides commercial, real estate and construction and consumer loans. In addition, the group offers automated lock box collection services, cash management services and account reconciliation services and promotes the marketing of these services to the municipal market. Another subsidiary, century financial services inc, provides securities brokerage services in conjunction with commonwealth equity services inc. The group operates through 21 banking offices in 16 cities and towns in Massachusetts serving small and medium-sized businesses, retail customers and local governments.
