The group's principal activity is that of a venture capital investor. The objective of the group is to achieve capital appreciation through long-term investments in businesses having growth potential. The investments consist of early-stage financing, expansion financing, management buyouts and recapitalizations and are made in various industry segments. As of 31-Mar-2004, twelve major investments consisted of the ones in palm harbor homes inc, the rectorseal corporation, skylawn corporation, alamo group inc, encore wire corporation, media recovery, inc, the whitmore manufacturing company, all components, inc., liberty media corporation, petsmart inc and ampro mortgage corporation. The group's portfolio includes major interests as well as marketable securities of these publicly owned companies. In addition to capital investments, the group also provides managerial assistance critical in business development activities to the companies in which it invests.
