The group operates in three segments: electric utility, gas utility and enterprises. The electric utility segment is associated with the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity in the state of Michigan. The gas utility segment consists of transportation, storage and distribution of natural gas in the state of Michigan. The enterprises segment invests, acquires, develops, constructs, manages and operates non-utility power generation plants and natural gas facilities in the United States and abroad. This segment also provides gas, oil and electric marketing services to energy users. On 02-Jul-2003, the group sold its cms field services subsidiary.
