The group's principal activities are to design, assemble, market and install capital equipment and related consumables. The products are used in the manufacture of wafers of various materials, primarily silicon wafers for the semiconductor industry and in certain semiconductor fabrication processes. The group operates through two business segments: semiconductor equipment and polishing supplies. The semiconductor equipment segment designs, manufactures and markets semiconductor wafer processing and handling equipment used in the fabrication of integrated circuits. The polishing supplies segment designs, manufactures and markets carriers, templates and equipment used in the lapping and polishing of wafer thin materials. The products include diffusion furnaces, ibal automation, double-sided precision lapping and polishing machines and complementary products.
