The group's principal activity is to finance most non-interest-bearing charge cardmember receivables arising from the use of the American express(R) card. The cards include the American express(R) gold card, platinum card(R) and corporate card issued in the United States. The group also purchases certain revolving credit receivables arising from the use of American express credit cards, interest-bearing receivables from extended payment plans and interest-bearing equipment financing installment loans and leases.
