The group's principal activity is to underwrite, service and distribute non-standard automobile insurance policies and related products and services. It offers products and services to individual consumers in 11 states, including Texas, Illinois, California and Florida. It operates in two segments, namely, agency segment and insurance segment. The agency segment comprises of underwriting agencies and retail agencies, which primarily design, distribute and service policies issued or reissued by insurance companies. The insurance segment issues non-standard personal automobile insurance policies through two Illinois-domiciled insurance company subsidiaries. On 7-May-2003, it acquired the remaining 20% interest in insureone independent agency, llc and on 31-Dec-2003, it acquired 100% of the stock of affirmative insurance company and insura property and casualty insurance company. The group became publicly held in Jul 2004.
