The group's principal activities are to market, sell and distribute pharmaceutical, fine and industrial chemicals. The group's business is organized into four segments. The agrochemical segment sells herbicides, fungicides and insecticides. The chemicals and colorants segment sells specialty chemicals used in adhesives, coatings and cosmetics, in addition to dyes and pigment intermediates. The health sciences segment sells the active ingredients for generic pharmaceuticals, vitamins and nutritional supplements as well as products used in preparation of pharmaceuticals. The institutional sanitary supplies and other segment sells cleaning solutions, fragrances and deodorants. The group operates in the United States, Europe, Asia- pacific and Australia. Its customers include industrial chemical and pharmaceutical companies. On 05-Jan-2004, the group acquired pharma waldhof.
