Yannis Virvilis is an associate in the international law firm of McDermott Will & Emery/Stanbrook LLP based in its Brussels office. He is a member of the Firm's EU regulatory practice and European Competition and Trade Groups. His practice focuses EU Competition Law, EC Merger Law and European Law.
After his studies, Yannis gained experience in Greek Law as a lawyer in Thessaloniki. From 2002 to 2003 he undertook an internship in the Directorate General for Competition of the European Commission (Directorate B - Mergers), where he gained practical experience in several aspects of European Competition Law.
He is co- author (along with Philip Bentley QC) of "Atkin's Court Forms - Volume 10 (Competition), Procedure before the European Commission and the European Courts" (2003).

Advising on the antitrust aspects of a projected acquisition by a gas producer.
Preparation and filing of Competition complaints to the European Commission against dominant undertakings.
Advising on compatibility of aids granted by EU Member States with EU State Aid rules.
Advising on notifiability of a number of large mergers to different jurisdictions worldwide.
Advising a large multinational company on cartel proceedings before the European Commission.
