Dr. Wouter-Jan Rappel’s interests include cardiac dynamics, cellular signaling, pattern formation and nonlinear dynamics. Dr. Rappel also serves as a senior scientist at the newly formed, NSF-sponsored Center of Theoretical Biological Physics. As a collaborator on the $2 million NIH grant awarded to GNS, Rappel refines techniques to handle the high computational demands created by simulating a three-dimensional cardiovascular model. His group at UCSD also contributes models of intracellular calcium dynamics to the project. |
