Wimberly joined KSTC in January 1993 after retiring from the University of Kentucky as Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies and Special Assistant to the president of the University for the Advanced Science and Technology Commercialization Center (ASTEC), a facility that provides for technology transfer and commercialization of University faculty-produced research. At KSTC he serves as Vice President and for nearly a decade served as Statewide EPSCoR Director for Kentucky; he now sits as chairman of the statewide EPSCoR Committee. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Coalition of EPSCoR states. Wimberly also serves part-time as principal investigator for the Appalachian Rural Systemic Initiative headquartered at KSTC and is the project director for the new Appalachian Math Science Partnership located at the University of Kentucky. He earned his B.A. in Mathematics and Physics from Murray State University, his M.A. in Mathematics from University of Kentucky, and his Ph.D. in Mathematics from UK. |
