Willie K. Chan joined AspenTech in 1982 and currently serves as Senior Vice President, Research & Development, bringing to this role more than 20 years of experience in developing computer software for optimizing the performance of chemical and refining processes. Chan was a member of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology ASPEN research program that later became AspenTech, and since joining AspenTech has held a variety of technical and management positions. Most recently, he was Vice President, R&D in the Products organization, where he led the production of the first release of aspenONE™. Previously, Chan served as Vice President, R&D and Operations for Engineering Products, where he led the integration of the Hyprotech products and development teams following AspenTech’s acquisition of Hyprotech, Inc. In a prior role as Director of Planning and Operations for Engineering Products, Chan led the development of the Aspen Engineering Suite, including the equation-oriented simulation capabilities for Aspen Plus. He assumed this position after serving as Product Manager and Technical Director for Aspen Plus, leading the production of the first Microsoft Windows® version of Aspen Plus. He began his career at AspenTech by leading the development of the separations and petroleum technologies for Aspen Plus and related products. Chan holds Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. |
