Mr. Son was Founder and CEO of NeoPoint, developer of world’s first internet-enabled smartphone digital wireless products and location-based wireless-internet services. He founded NeoPoint in late 1997, which grew to 260 employees with more than $40 million revenue within two years. Prior to NeoPoint, Mr. Son held various management positions at Qualcomm since 1993, with his last position as the Regional Director of Qualcomm for its Korea operation, which he initiated in 1995. He has worked with Korean government agencies, device manufacturers, and wireless carriers to commercialize Qualcomm’s CDMA digital wireless technology as the national standard, and generated more than $250 million in revenue. Mr. Son held various engineering management and R&D positions for their wireless products at Loral Conic and TRW Avionics Division. Mr. Son received his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering and finished all course work for his M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from San Diego State University. Mr. Son has received numerous awards, including: Top 500 Telecom Business of 1999, Top 50 Telecommunications Executives, ABA Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year 1999, Finalist E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year 2000, SDSU Most Distinguished Alumni, and has been featured in major printed publications including Forbes, Fortune, Wall Street Journal, Business Week and on various major TV networks. |
