William Chin, MD, is HealthCare Partners’ executive medical director, and one of its founding partners. Under Dr. Chin’s clinical oversight, HealthCare Partners continually improves its quality of patient care and its clinical processes and has, as a result, earned excellent ratings year after year in patient satisfaction surveys, such as the Consumer Assessment Survey of patient satisfaction rates and PacifiCare’s Quality Index Profile.
Dr. Chin heads the Office of Medical Director (OMD), a central division within HealthCare Partners that is the steward of the physician-led principles that are the foundation of HealthCare Partners. Under his direction, the OMD unites into one team the clinical and administrative leadership and expertise needed to create medical quality standards for the operational and management team.
Dr. Chin attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, graduated from the University of Buffalo Medical School, and is board certified in internal medicine and rheumatology. His wife, Pat, is a professor of nursing at Cal State Los Angeles University, his son is a computer engineer working in Boston, and his daughter is an attorney working in the Attorney General's office in Rhode Island. Bill is an avid hockey fan and also enjoys playing tennis.
