Mr. Callnin is the founder and Chairman of Cayuga Hospitality Advisors Inc. (Cayuga), an organization providing counseling services to developers and operators of domestic and international hotels, resorts, private clubs, casinos and foodservice facilities. Bill is the Managing Director of Cayuga's Casino Gaming Group, an international gaming consultancy providing advisory services to casino developers and operators in the United States, Asia, Australia, Europe and the Caribbean. Specific clients have included hotel and resort companies entering the gaming field for the first time, Indian Nations, and owners of large and small casinos. He led Cayuga's consulting teams in developing the first casinos in a Westin Resort, a Wyndham Hotel, and a Four Seasons Resort, providing technical services including market positioning, casino design, FF&E specification and purchasing, staffing planning, operating projections, and development and implementation of all aspects of casino operating procedures and internal controls. Cayuga also provides, under Bill's direction, extensive casino operational and compliance reviews and management-performance audits.
He is currently consulting as the casino expert in the development of a $300 million first-phase resort and casino on a 900-acre site in the Pocono Mountains in northeastern Pennsylvania. Upon licensing and opening of the casino to the public, Bill will provide ongoing asset management services for the casino's owner.
He is a frequent speaker at gaming conferences and, annually from 1993 through 2000, a teacher of a 40-classroom-hour course in Casino Management at a private hotel/tourism college in Switzerland.
From 1978 to 1980 he was Vice President of Operations for Bally's Park Place Casino Hotel where he assisted in the planning, staffing, opening and operation of this $300 million project, with 512 guest rooms, 12 food, beverage and entertainment outlets, and a 60,000 sq. ft. casino, the total facility comprising 1.6 million sq. ft., with 4,200 individually licensed employees.
Prior to Bally's, Mr. Callnin spent nine years as senior principal and Regional Director of Management Advisory Services for Laventhol & Horwath, based in Philadelphia. He was responsible for MAS operations in 14 states in the Mid-Atlantic and New England regions.
