Dr. William Y. Hsu is Vice President and Chief Technical Officer of Kennametal Inc. (NYSE:KMT). In this position, he oversees the worldwide research, development and engineering functions of the company. Dr. Hsu joined Kennametal in Apr 2004.
Prior to joining Kennametal, Dr. Hsu served over 26 years with DuPont Company in various technology and business leadership roles. His most recent position was Vice President and Chief Technical Officer of the $5.4 billion DuPont Performance Materials Platform. From 1999 to 2003, he was Vice President of Global Technology and Americas Region of DuPont Engineering Polymers, responsible for the worldwide technical functions and the $1 billion Americas region. He served on the Board of Directors of the Society of Plastics Industry from 1999-2000, and on the Research Executive Committee of the Society of Automotive Engineers from 1999-2002. He has over 60 publications and 2 patents.
Dr. Hsu received his doctor of philosophy degree in physics from the University of California at Berkeley, and his bachelor of science degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He was named a Distinguished Alumni Lecturer at the Golden Anniversary of his alma mater, the Chung Chi College, in 2002. Dr. Hsu and his wife, Dorothy, reside in Pittsburgh, Pa. They have two daughters. |
