William W. Hunt is president and chief executive officer of State Street Global Advisors (SSgA), the investment management arm of State Street Corporation (NYSE: STT) and the world's largest institutional asset manager. With $1.5 trillion in assets under management (as of March 31, 2006), SSgA delivers investment strategies and integrated solutions to clients worldwide across every asset class, investment approach and style.
Mr. Hunt also serves as executive vice president of State Street Corporation and is a member of its Operating Group, the company's most senior strategy and policy making team. He joined State Street in 1994 as managing director of SSgA's Tokyo office, and then went on to become CEO for all of State Street in Japan including its investor services and global markets businesses. In 2001, Hunt returned to Boston to oversee SSgA's international business. Most recently, he was head of State Street's Global Relationship Management group, which is responsible for managing State Street's largest customer relationships.
Prior to joining State Street, Mr. Hunt was with the American International Group Companies, Japan, where he served as senior investment officer for Japan and Korea. He also held positions in equity research and Japanese equity derivatives trading with Swiss Bank Corporation International in Tokyo.
Mr. Hunt holds a Bachelor’s degree from Bates College and a Master of International Business degree from the University of South Carolina. He is a member of the Board of Overseers of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and serves on the Board of Directors of the Japan Society of Boston.
