William S. Hummers serves as Chief Risk and Administrative Officer and as a Director of The South Financial Group. Mr. Hummers is responsible for risk management, human resources, legal, and compliance. Mr. Hummers joined The South Financial Group in June 1988 and served as Chief Financial Officer until November 2005. Mr. Hummers began his banking career in 1972 with Southern Bank & Trust serving as Senior Vice President and Controller from 1982 to 1986. Following the acquisition of Southern Bank by First Union National Bank of South Carolina in 1986, Mr. Hummers was Vice President, Management Reporting with First Union in Charlotte until joining The South Financial Group in June 1988. Mr. Hummers graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Economics. Mr. Hummers is a Director of World Acceptance Corporation, a consumer finance company. |
