William S. Hayes brings nearly 30 years of legal experience to Kosmos. He has worked for or represented public and private, major and independent exploration and production (E&P) companies in some 30 countries during his career. He has particular proficiency in representing companies operating in Africa. Hayes has led numerous entities' legal activities and provided support for operations, marketing, finance, asset rationalization and acquisitions. He also has directed corporate administration and risk management functions.
Most recently, Hayes was senior vice president and general counsel for two London-based public independent E&P companies with primary operations in Russia and Ukraine - Urals Energy and Cardinal Resources, respectively. He also headed the legal effort at Vanco Energy, a private, international exploration company with deepwater oil and gas assets in Africa.
Previously, Hayes was an independent legal practitioner. Based in Houston, he represented numerous E&P companies with global operations. Earlier in his career, Hayes was senior attorney for British Gas Exploration & Production, first in Houston and later in Cairo as an expatriate responsible for the company's legal and commercial activities in Egypt. He began his career as an attorney with Andrews & Kurth in Houston where he gained entrée into the oil and gas sector.
Hayes received a Juris Doctor from St. Mary's University School of Law and a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Texas. He is member of the State Bar of Texas, the International Bar Association and the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators. |
