William R. Engelbrecht is vice president of Planning & Analysis for Sempra Generation, which operates power plants for the competitive market in North America. As vice president of Planning & Analysis, Engelbrecht is responsible for the economic analysis, transmission support, and market rules/structure for Sempra Generation's generation portfolio. Before this, Engelbrecht was vice president-Energy Supply for Sempra Generation from 2002-2005, managing director-Energy Supply for the company in 2001 and was director of Portfolio Asset Management for the company from 1998 to 2001. Prior to the merger between Enova Corporation and Pacific Enterprises that formed Sempra Energy, Engelbrecht worked for San Diego Gas & Electric Co., the main subsidiary of Enova Energy Inc., from 1981 to 1998. A 17-year veteran of the utility industry, Engelbrecht has held a range of engineering and leadership jobs in transmission planning, resource planning, strategic planning and industry restructuring. Engelbrecht has a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, with a specialty in power, from the University of Illinois. During his career, Engelbrecht has spoken at a number of national conferences and has provided expert testimony multiple times on electricity-related matters before the California Energy Commission and the California Public Utilities Commission, as well as also testifying before the Connecticut Siting Council and the Arizona Commerce Commission. A member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, Engelbrecht is a registered electrical engineer in California. |
