A seasoned Beltway veteran, Mr. Pitts brings an extensive background in public service and success in the corporate sector to NTI. Currently, he develops and executes business strategies through the company's Washington, D.C. office, representing its interests before all federal and state government entities, and overseeing the Connect-GOV® and Connect-MIL® services.
Previously, he served the U.S. House of Representatives as Staff Director of the House Committee on Rules, where he provided policy, political, strategic, and tactical counsel to Rules Committee Chairman David Dreier in coordination with the Speaker's Office.
Uniquely prepared for leadership in governmental matters, Mr. Pitts has served as Vice President for Government Relations for three leading media giants: MP3.com Inc., The Walt Disney Company, and Capital Cities/ABC.
Before joining the corporate sector, Mr. Pitts worked in a variety of pivotal government positions. From 1980-1995, he served the U.S. House of Representatives as the Chief of Staff and Floor Assistant to House Republican Leader, Robert H. Michel, where he was responsible for principal leadership of the staff providing policy, political, strategic, and tactical counsel to the Republican Leader. He learned the workings of government up close, working as Floor Assistant to the House Republican Whip, having begun his public service experience as the Manager of the House Republican Cloakroom.
Widely recognized as a parliamentary expert with authoritative knowledge of House Rules and Procedures, Mr. Pitts served as Assistant Parliamentarian at four Republican Conventions and served as Special Assistant to the Convention Chairman.
Mr. Pitts has served as Commissioner of The President's Commission on the Federal Appointment Process, on the Board of Directors of the United States Capitol Historical Society, and as a member of the FCC's Independent Panel reviewing the impact of Hurricane Katrina on Communication Networks.
Mr. Pitts attended Georgetown University, Washington DC, from 1965-1969, where he majored in Pre-Med., Biology. |
