William Norman is senior vice president of United Services at United's maintenance center in San Francisco, and also serves as director of Maintenance for United.
Named to the position in November 2005, he is responsible for the safety and operational reliability of United’s fleet worldwide, overseeing administrative, engineering, sales, planning and production support of airframes, engines and components, as well as environmental compliance and continuous improvement.
Norman is currently leading an aggressive transformation of the airline’s maintenance base into a world-class maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) production facility, operating according to Lean principles.
Known as United Services, this segment of the airline’s business is growing exponentially by delivering quality and competitive turn times on MRO services related to engines, landing gear, high-tech components including avionics as well as line maintenance for customer airlines and the United States government.
Since 1984, when he joined United, Norman has held a variety of managerial positions in the last 21 years. He most recently served as Vice President - Base Maintenance maintaining United’s fleet of aircraft through production support of airframes, engines and components.
Norman received his master's degree in industrial design from San Francisco State University in 1986. He also is on the board of directors of China Aircraft Services Limited in Hong Kong, Shanghai Eastern Aircraft Maintenance in Shanghai and AirLiance. |
