Mr. McDermott is president and CEO of SAP America, Inc. He is responsible for SAP's strategic business operations in the United States and Canada with more than 4,500 employees. Before joining SAP, Mr. McDermott was executive vice president for worldwide sales at Siebel Systems where he led global sales and field operations for 37 countries. He also served as president of Gartner Inc., overseeing its research, consulting, measurement, software, interactive business operations, as well as its global sales and service operations. Mr. McDermott started his career at Xerox Corporation where he became the firm's youngest corporate officer and division president. In 1997, Mr. McDermott's team received the Malcolm Baldrige Award, the nation's highest honor for business performance. Mr. McDermott is an active civic leader and advocate for social responsibility in business. He is a board director for the Washington-based Welfare-to-Work Partnership, which promotes career opportunities for former welfare recipients. He is also a member of the Business Roundtable, the Enterprise Software Roundtable, the Advisory Board for Villanova University in Villanova, Pennsylvania, Dowling College Board of Trustees, and the KIPP School National Advisory Board. Mr. McDermott received a BS from Dowling College and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He has also completed the Executive Development Program at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School. |
