Mr. Grant joined Vasogen’s Board of Directors in 1998 and became Chairman in March 2001. He is Vice-Chairman and Co-founder of Galen Associates, a New York-based private equity firm that focuses exclusively on the healthcare industry. Mr. Grant has more than 40 years’ experience in the investment banking and healthcare fields. During his 25 years with Smith Barney, Mr. Grant was elected President, and then Vice Chairman, and participated in the financing of many healthcare companies, including G.D. Searle (Monsanto), A.H. Robins (American Home Products), Marion Laboratories (Aventis), American Hospital Supply (Baxter), and SmithKline Beecham (GlaxoSmithKline). Mr. Grant then joined MacKay-Shields Financial Corporation as President and was later elected Chairman of the Board. He is a former Director and Vice Chairman of SmithKline Beecham (GlaxoSmithKline) and currently serves on the boards of Advanced Medical Optics Inc., Massey Energy Company, Ocular Sciences Inc., and Quest Diagnostics Inc. He is a Trustee Emeritus of the Mary Flagler Cary Charitable Trust and a member of the General Electric Equity Advisory Board. |
