William R. Burford is counsel in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Firm's Los Angeles office. He is a member of the Private Client Department, focusing on tax and estate planning, probate and trust administration, and estate and trust controversies.
Bill has been recognized by Law and Politics and the publishers of Los Angeles Magazine as a "Rising Star" in the area of Estate Planning and Trusts. Bill's articles have appeared in a variety of publications, including the Tax Management Estates, Gifts and Trusts Journal, the California Trusts & Estates Quarterly, the Monthly Digest of Tax Articles, the Los Angeles Lawyer, the Los Angeles Business Journal, and the California Family Law News. He has appeared on national television to discuss how to address and avoid family inheritance disputes and has spoken to lawyers and non-lawyer groups on estate planning, trust administration, fiduciary litigation and related topics. While at New York University School of Law, Bill served as a Graduate Editor of the Tax Law Review.
Bill is admitted to State Bar of California and is a member of the American Bar Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, and the Beverly Hills Bar Association.
