Bill is a partner in Lindquist & Vennum’s Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Remedies practice group. He represents banks and other secured lenders, mortgage companies, equipment-finance companies, indenture trustees, unsecured creditors and lessors. His areas of experience include: Bankruptcy and workouts Creditor-rights litigation, such as breach of contract, replevin, garnishment and other state-law remedies UCC and other real estate litigation Commercial and consumer foreclosures and lease disputes Consumer credit litigation involving truth-in-lending laws and other federal and state consumer statutes Before earning his J.D., Bill was a certified public accountant for several years at a large international accounting firm. This background gives him in-depth understanding of business operations in general and bank operations in particular. The combination of business and legal perspectives also helps him devise creative ways for clients to meet their goals and objectives. Bill lectures frequently for the Bankruptcy Institute and the National Business Institute, and formerly co-edited the Minnesota State Bar Association’s Bankruptcy Bulletin. He is a former chair of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court’s Local Rules Committee for the District of Minnesota. Early in his career, Bill clerked for the Hon. Gregory F. Kishel, a bankruptcy judge for the District of Minnesota. |
