Mr. Keane joined the Board of Directors of Salix in January 2004 and has more than 30 years of financial and executive experience primarily in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. Mr. Keane has a breadth of operational and strategic expertise, including international operations, mergers and acquisitions, and strategic analysis. Most recently as CFO at Genta Incorporated, Mr. Keane was responsible for the financial, strategic, and information technology functions of this biopharmaceutical company as it transitioned from an R&D focus to a commercial entity. In addition, Mr. Keane has served as Vice President of Sourcing, Strategy and Operations Effectiveness for Bristol-Myers Squibb, CFO for Covance Biotechnology Services Inc., and Vice President of Finance, Global Pharmaceutical Manufacturing for Warner-Lambert. During his twelve-year career with Ciba-Geigy/Novartis, Mr. Keane held increasingly senior national and international financial and operational positions, culminating in Director of Finance and Administration for the UK pharmaceuticals business of Novartis AG. Mr. Keane recently joined the Board of Directors of Intellect Neurosciences, Inc. Mr. Keane received a B.A. degree in Microbiology from Rutgers College and an M.B.A. in Finance from the Rutgers University School of Management. |
