Bill Galligan was named Senior Vice President for Operations in May 2005 and reports to the Deputy Postmaster General and Chief Operating Officer. In this role, Galligan has responsibility for the Postal Service's engineering, facilities, network operations management, and delivery and retail functions.
Earlier, Galligan served as vice president of retail and delivery operations and oversaw the retail and delivery functions of the nation's 38,000 Post Offices.
Galligan has also served as Connecticut district manager, plant manager of the Hartford processing and distribution center, regional manager of automation implementation, director of mail processing for the New Haven sectional center, director of finance for the Hartford sectional center and postmaster of Milford, CT.
Galligan began his Postal Service career as a city letter carrier in New Haven, CT. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT, and his Master's degree in public administration from the University of New Haven. He has also attended leadership study programs at the University of Virginia and Boston University.
