Bill Carpenter is currently the Managing Director of UniCorp Ventures LLC, a company that provides commercialization resources and expertise to help research-based universities and not-for-profit institutions more effectively capture the economic value of their intellectual property; and Donology LLC, a company that specializes in helping organizations maximize the value of non-strategic technology through donation. Bill was previously Chairman & CEO of Bausch & Lomb, a global leader in eye care and optic health. During his tenure at B&L, Bill reshaped and reenergized the business portfolio to create a comprehensive healthcare company for the eye, buying and selling over $2B in assets and doubling R&D spending during the transition. Prior to Bausch & Lomb, Bill served as President & CEO of Reckitt & Colman, Inc., the North American business of Reckitt Benkiser, a global leader in household products, where he led the transformation of an eroding $850 million business into a competitive, profitable and growing enterprise. Bill spent the first 14 years of his career at Johnson & Johnson in various marketing and general management positions, the most notable of which was serving as the Product Director on TYLENOL during the 1982-tampering crisis. Bill is committed to education. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Rochester, the Visiting Committee of the Simon Graduate School of Business, the Board of McQuaid Jesuit, a college preparatory school, and the Board of the Catholic Schools of the Diocese of Rochester. He received a BA from Dartmouth College and an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. Bill is also a member and past Chairman of the Stewardship Council of the Diocese of Rochester, an advisory body for the Bishop and Diocese, and serves as a Director for two biotechnology companies, Pericor Science and OyaGen and a member of the Board for the University Technology Seed Fund. |
