Biography
William M. Kerr, Jr. joined Kelly Hart & Hallman LLP as a partner in March 2005 and brings to the firm more than two decades of experience in commercial transactions, with particular emphasis on acquisitions, financings and divestitures of oil and gas and commercial real estate companies and assets. He is a graduate of Washington and Lee University, where he received his bachelor of arts degree, cum laude, in 1979, as well as of the University of Texas School of Law, where he received his juris doctor, with honors, in 1981. Prior to joining this firm, Mr. Kerr was a partner and financial manager of a Midland, Texas-based law firm focused upon the representation of independent oil and gas producers and related businesses. His business practice includes extensive international experience in North America, South America, and Europe. He represents clients ranging from individual investors to mid-size independents to major corporations.
Bill and his wife, Kelly, share three daughters. Outside his professional practice, Bill is a periodically avid runner, having completed several marathons, a die-hard Longhorn fan, and an occasional golfer. Bill is a member of Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church and serves on the Board of Directors of the Town Lake Trail Foundation in Austin.

Assisted an independent oil and gas producer with the acquisition, high-yield debt financing, and divestiture of $250 million oil and gas portfolio
Represented an oil and gas service company in the acquisition of approximately 40 service companies or their assets preparatory to an initial public offering of stock in the company
Represented a US-based company in connection with its acquisition and financing of several Italian/Sicilian E&P companies
Represented an affiliate of Fortune 500 Company in connection with the divestiture of a South American mining concern
