William M. Ellis is President of Textron Fluid & Power Inc., which manufactures industrial pumps and gear systems used in the plastics, chemical refining, transportation and other markets.
Before assuming his current position in August 2004, Ellis was vice president Textron Six Sigma and Transformation. In this role, Ellis worked with Textron's business units and enterprise functions on the continued deployment of critical enterprise-wide processes and systems to improve business performance and achieve Textron's corporate vision. In addition to leading the Fluid & Power business, Ellis serves on Textron's Transformation Leadership Team, comprised of the top executives of the corporation.
Previously, Ellis was vice president of Textron Six Sigma for Textron Fastening Systems, a position he held since January 2002. Ellis joined Textron as vice president supply chain for Textron Fastening Systems in April 2001.
Prior to joining Textron, Ellis spent 10 years at General Electric in positions of increased responsibility spanning the company's Six Sigma, Supply Chain, Materials Services, Operations, Quality and Financial Audit functions. Specifically at GE Aircraft Engines, Ellis led their $2.6 billion spare parts business, the reengineering of business-wide supply chain processes, provided leadership to Master Black Belts in commercial quality arenas and increased inventory turnover by more than 30 percent.
As a Captain in the US Army, Ellis was a trained aircraft maintenance and logistics officer and a test pilot on the Bell AH-1 Cobra aircraft. He also flew VIP support in Bell UH-1 helicopters, in the Republic of South Korea.
Ellis received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University and a Master of Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle University. He is also a Six Sigma Master Black Belt. |
