As president of Ryland Homes' West region, Bill Butler is responsible for planning and directing Ryland's homebuilding operations in California, Colorado, Nevada and Arizona.
Mr. Butler joined Ryland in April 1996 as president of Ryland Homes' Denver division and was responsible for directing the company's operations in Denver through the administration of sales, marketing, production, customer relations and site acquisition. Mr. Butler assumed his current position in April 2007.
Prior to joining Ryland, he was president of Mesa Homes in Temecula, California. He also was president of Continental Homes in Phoenix, Arizona, and Salt Lake City, Utah. Additionally, Mr. Butler was an owner of Columbine Homes in Denver.
Mr. Butler began his 35-year homebuilding career with Pulte homes in Denver. When he left Pulte as vice president of sales and marketing, he liquidated all of Wood Brothers Homes' holdings in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He then became marketing director of Wood Bothers.
In addition to his work with Ryland, Mr. Butler has served on the board of directors of both the Denver Homebuilders of America and the Riverside County Building Industry Association. In Temecula, he served on the board of directors for SHARP Hospital.
Right out of college from California State University at Northridge, Mr. Butler played football for the Denver Broncos football team.
