William L. Achenbach, Esq., President SFM Charlottsville, leads our Charlottesville office and manages client relationships. From 1979 to 1992, Bill was a principal of Brownson, Rehmus & Foxworth, Inc. and founder of their Chicago office. He served as the primary financial counselor and investment advisor for approximately 65 senior corporate executives, high net worth individuals and families. Prior to 1979, he was a general partner with Chicago-based investment counseling firm, Stein, Roe & Farnham. Prior to that, he was an associate in the Chicago law firm of Kirkland and Ellis. In 1992, Bill formed W.L. Achenbach & Associates, Inc. and subsequently merged his firm with Signature Financial Management in 2007. Bill graduated from Northwestern University (1964) and holds graduate degrees from Northwestern’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management (1969) and the University of Chicago Law School (JD 1967). He is a former trustee of Northwestern University and President of its Alumni Association. He is a member of the parent Board of the Martha Jefferson Hospital and former Chair of its Hospital Board. He is a former Trustee and Audit Committee Chair of a national mutual fund complex.
